Casa de Pilatos, Seville
The 1st Duke of Alcala (one of the Enriquez line though he used the name Per Afan de Ribera) was viceroy in Naples 1558-1571 and assembled a large collection of antiquities there. When he returned to Spain he brought with him the architect Benvenuto Tortello. The project they devised was an 'archaeological garden' surrounded by an extension of the existing palace. The model was the suburban villa of renaissance Italy, but converted to this urban location.
