Many days they gather in opposition to the latest government official in power. Today is a quiet day at the NC General Assembly. The 1st Amendment is alive and well in North Carolina's Capitol City. I was amused to see that after every question from Atlantic editor-in-chief Jeffrey Goldberg about Trump, she refused to say his name and instead referred to him dismissively as "whatshisname."
Pelosi also spoke warmly of the introduction President George W. Bush gave her during his first State of the Union address with her as Speaker of the House in 2007:
"I have a high privilege and distinct honor of my own -- as the first President to begin the State of the Union message with these words: Madam Speaker. In his day, the late Congressman Thomas D'Alesandro, Jr. from Baltimore, Maryland, saw Presidents Roosevelt and Truman at this rostrum.
