A bird's eye view of the Moore Farm Estate (Domaine de la Ferme-Moore), built in 1910, in Gatineau, Quebec, Canada.
This farm has a very rich history, having originally been owned by Philemon Wright, one of the first timber barons on the north shore of the Ottawa River and the founder of Hull (now Gatineau), Quebec.
The principal building was originally a stable and an indoor riding rink, facing a field where horses could graze and move freely about.
It was ultimately acquired by Virginia Rosalie Parker Moore from the Slater family in 1951, thus its namesake, and she eventually gifted the entire property to the NCC in 1973 and still remains under the stewardship of the NCC. Her wishes for the estate were for the estate to be accessible to the public.
In the 1950s, the farm operated as an equestrian centre. The stable was designated a Government of Canada Recognized Federal Heritage Building in 1991.
