The umbels which reach about ten centimeters, are characterized by a central flower bud of reddish hue.
The red flower in the center of young Queen Anne's lace is said to be a drop of the Queen's blood when she punctured herself with a lace making needle.
Common names: wild carrot, (UK) bird's nest, bishop's lace, and (US) Queen Anne's lace.
Noms communs: carotte commune, carotte sauvage.

I was on a backpacking trip in the Sierra Nevada Mountain range, in Sequoia
National Forest, when I saw this leaf on the ground. It was too unique to pass by without taking a picture. I can only imagine the larvae/caterpillar that busily created this intricate lace-like design while the young oak leaf was still green from late spring or summer.
