C708KDS was a Volvo B10M-61 / Caetano Algarve C49Ft delivered new to Park's of Hamilton in March 1986. It was in Contiki Tours livery. It was hired to News International in November 1986 to run through the picket lines at Wapping. MacDonald of Tain purchased it in August 1987, then Fraser of Duncanston purchased it in June 1992. McCreadie's of Airdrie acquired it in May 1994, before selling it to Jay Coaches of Greengairs in February 1997. It was with Stephenson of Tholthorpe by September 2002.
When News International planned to move to Wapping in January 1986 and talks with the unions broke down nearly 6000 workers went on strike. Rupert Murdoch immediately served all the strikers with notices of dismissal. Overnight, Murdoch then moved the Times, Sunday Times, Sun and News of the World to the new site and staffed it with new people from different skills areas. Murdoch had demanded the unions accept flexible working, agree to a no-strike clause, adopt new technology and abandon their closed shop.
