It’s the first sunny photo of the year of 2025, as a pair of Traction Orange CSS GP38-2s (2006/2005) with a 17 car AF12 from their Bailly Yard in Burns Harbor, IN that’s bound for CSX Pegasus Yard in East Chicago, Indiana. Still on obvious home rails, AF12 beings their run up hill over CSX Garrett Sub, curving along Route 20 in the Miller neighborhood of Gary, IN.
This is one of the many “new” possible shots along the NICTD main with the completion of their double track project. While fighting with the clouds most of the day, I’m glad I was chasing the sun and not the train, as I decided to pull over and try something new! Taken: 1-19-25
