The alpine or subalpine larch trees (Lyall’s larch, Larix Lyallii) attract thousands of hikers every fall.
Monday, October 7 I hiked to Ingalls Lake, located in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness. The trailhead is located in the Teanaway River drainage, Washington State. The round-trip hike is about 9 miles with an elevation gain of about 2,800 feet. Ingalls Lake elevation is 6,466 feet. Crowds visit the area because of the beautiful golden larches in October. I didn't count but I am sure at least 200 people hiked to the lake or perhaps a few stopped short of the lake and enjoyed the views of Mount Stuart and the larch tree. The hike is strenuous. IMG_1256
