'Odessa' was an early dedicated cruise ship. Building was protracted due to disputes with the original owners Nordline. In 1975 she was purchased by BLASCO (Black Sea Shipping Co) of the Soviet Union, and later served under the Ukraine flag.

'World Discoverer' was an adventure / discovery / expedition cruise ship, used for cruising to remote / unusual destinations.

She was wrecked in the Solomon Islands in 2000, and remains visible today.

Royal Odyssey - Tilbury, Essex - England - Print

'Royal Odyssey' was a formative ship in the growing cruise market of the time. She had originally been 'Shalom' of Zim Israel, then 'Hanseatic' of German Atlantic Line before becoming Home Lines 'Doric'. She served with Royal Cruise Lines as 'Royal Odyssey' from 1981 to 1988.

Seen here alongside at Tilbury. Tilbury Riverside station can be seen, closed 1992.

In Tilbury Docks a Nigerian National Line general cargo ship can be seen, and possibly a Stolt tanker.

The passenger liner 'Stefan Batory' started life as 'Maasdam' for Holland America Line, serving the Dutch East Indies, and later used on transatlantic service. In 1968 she was sold to the Polish Government and renamed (after a former king of Poland). She was known for the various orchestras performing aboard.

L2025_3414 HANSEATIC SPIRIT - Crosby Bend

HANSEATIC SPIRIT seen at Crosby Bend after departing Liverpool Cruise terminal photographed from PS Waverley returning from a cruise to Llandudno and the Anglesey Coast.

HANSEATIC SPIRIT is a passenger cruise ship built in 2021 by Fincantieri for Hapag Lloyd. She is 138 meters long and weighs 15,651 grt.

The ship is part of a new class of expedition ships being launched by Hapag Lloyd. It has two twin ships, the HANSEATIC NATURE and the HANSEATIC INSPIRATION, both of which were delivered in 2019 in Norway.

The ship has been specifically designed to access even the most remote areas in the Arctic, Antarctic and Amazon regions.
