HI-RES VERSION

The influence of jet aircraft that characterized many concept cars of the 1950s continued into the following decades, including with this innovative offering from GM. Unveiled at the 1969 Chicago Auto Show, the Astro III was one of several mid-engine concepts devised by Bill Mitchell with Corvette chief engineer Larry Shinoda in a study of futuristic design combined with low-drag forms. The three-wheeler was powered by a gas turbine engine originally developed for use in military and civilian helicopters paired with a two-speed Hydramatic transmission.

HI-RES VERSION

Chris Roark is known for producing a number of award-winning lowrider vehicles, many benefitting from numerous unique parts designed and machined by Roark himself. His “Final Score” has racked up titles that include Lowerider magazine’s Lowrider of the Year from 2015-2017, Best Custom at both the Grand National Roadster Show and the Sacramento Autorama, and Best in Show at the Rick Ross Car Show.

Built in Roark’s shop, C&C Customs in Vacaville, California, “Final Score” presents many hallmarks of a quintessential modern lowerider car: the extremely lowered stance; vibrant candy and metal-flake paint with graphics and pinstriping; airbrushed murals; a custom interior; intricate engraving; wire wheels; a decorated engine and undercarriage; and countless other remarkable details throughout. Additional modifications include a one-off grille, a single-piece front bumper with a “frenched-in” (recessed) licesne plate, and shaved door handles and cowl.
