Rue Cambronne
Rue Cambronne is a street in the 15ème arrondissement of Paris in the quartiers Necker and Saint-Lambert. The street has a length of 810 meters and a width of 18 meters. Starting at Place Cambronne and ending at Rue de Vaugirard. The street is served by 3 métro stations; Cambronne (6), Vaugirard (12) and Volontaires (12).
Rue Cambronne and Place Cambronne commemorate by their name the General of the First Empire Pierre Cambronne (1770-1842).
The current street, formed in 1800, was called « rue de l’École »oration of the commune of Vaugirard in Paris by the law of June 16, 1859, the street is officially attached to the Parisian road by a decree of May 23, 1863, following a deliberation of the Paris City Council of February 6, the same year. The street is renamed by decree of August 24, 1864 in honor of Pierre Cambronne, Major General of the First Empire.
