Der Kiebitz (Vanellus vanellus) ist eine Vogelart aus der Familie der Regenpfeifer (Charadriidae). Er brütet typischerweise in den Marschwiesen, auf Vordeichwiesenflächen und anderen Weidelandschaften der Niederungen. Der Watvogel mit den breiten, paddelförmigen Flügeln ist für seine spektakulären Balzflüge bekannt, die auch als Gaukeln bezeichnet werden.
The lapwing (Vanellus vanellus) is a bird species from the plover family (Charadriidae). It typically breeds in marshy meadows, on foreshore meadows and other lowland pastures. The wading bird with its broad, paddle-shaped wings is known for its spectacular courtship flights, also known as the "gaggle".
