Union Hill is just about an hour southwest of Minneapolis, and features a small but beautifully maintained ballpark for the Bulldogs, a "townball" team, or Class C team in the Minnesota Amateur Baseball Association.

Renville County Road 4 construction

It was hot today - 95° when I left the house at 7pm and 88° when I returned at 11pm.

I had decided to take the top down on my Jeep and enjoy the drive rather than the destination and ended up south of Bird Island as the sun set.

I was driving southbound on Highway 56 this morning on my way to Nerstrand Meats. This vintage Oldsmobile was about halfway between Stanton and Dennison. So after I left the meat market, I stopped in on my way back home. I liked the out building and the cornfield behind the car, I needed to get a photo of it

Complete with wind turbines in the distance.

I saw this old marble headstone with a lengthy inscription in German. I was able to translate it and added the original German text (somewhat hard to read) and the English translation. This particular inscription was common on headstones in the 1890's.

Renville County, Minnesota

On the backroads somewhere between New Ulm and Le Sueur MN about 1½ hours before sunset. We came across this field with sun hitting the hay bales just right. The farmer was working the field on the other side of the road. He was probably wondering why these people were taking pictures of his hay bales.
