Part Route 26. Lothian 665 westbound on Regent Road, Edinburgh.

The Edinburgh Marathon on 25 May 2025 meant some routes were diverted at different times of the day and others had Part Route extras to provide additional capacity on the east side of the city and beyond. In this picture, fleet number 665 is operating a Part Route 26 from (I guess) Prestonpans or Levenhall to Princes Street.

Duty calls 665

Its that time of the year again and in my opinion one of the best around.! Those 4 days at the end of June that pay host to the Royal Highland Show again where around 200,000 people attend Ingilston for a weekend of the farmers life from sheep shearing and visiting to animals to a range of food to try out. Lothian is the official transport partner and help many people get to the show with Lothian running the annual service 98 up to every 5 minutes at peak time with most buses running full if not very near.

This year was no exception with almost all buses parked out and a range of different buses accommodating passengers and we got pretty luck with the weather as it was rather glorious the whole of the weekend with Sunday topping if of as a plus 20 degree and ear to ear blue skies.

As we can see in this shot as it was far too good to resist a wee snap and the next bus of the list is Lothian buses 665 - yet another of the 98 enviros and the fourth photo in a row of them which takes my total to 24 of them tallied off.

Here we can see in the glorious sunshine at Magdala Crescent dead running back to the show grounds is Lothian Buses 665 passing the Apex hotel looking rather brand new due to how the sun is hitting before picking the next lot of country fanatics up and bring them home.

Lothian 665 on Dalry Road, Edinburgh.

Route 44 has been criss-crossing Edinburgh since 1954, originally from Eastfield to Juniper Green but nowadays extended at both ends to run from Wallyford or Whitecraig to Balerno. In this picture, fleet number 665 is seen pulling away from the Haymarket stop on Dalry Road with the first part of the new landmark Haymarket Square development rising behind. The bus has just crossed the Haymarket railway tunnels which pass under the new development, itself built on the site of the former Morrison Street Goods Depot. Just visible in the distance to the left of the new office block is the Heart of Midlothian FC war memorial commemorating the club’s players and staff who died in WW1.
