Valkenburg: Architecture Photography
Wilhelminatoren, an historicist tower built with neo-Gothic elements, 30-meter high, national monument, built in 1906 on the Heunsberg. The tower, built from marlstone, has a rectangular floor plan, has seven floors, and is covered with an octagonal tent roof crowned with a large cross. The tower is accessible via a footpath or cable car, has a busy catering facility, including miniature golf course, toboggan runs and abseiling from the tower as attractions. Visitors can visit the tower which offers a wide view of the surrounding area. In the evening, the tower is easily recognizable from afar by a red illuminated cross on the roof.

After 119 years a sudden collapse!
In the early Sunday morning of March 16, 2025, the 30-meter high tower suddenly collapsed. Due to the time of the collapse, a disaster was avoided; hours later, the terrace and the immediate vicinity, such as the toboggan run, would normally be busy with people.
