We are trying out a new bit of kit called a 'Buckler'
Luke is good - I am not!! He wins! He got some good punches in with that thing!! Ouchy!!

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia -
A buckler (French bouclier 'shield', from Old French bocle, boucle 'boss') is a small shield, up to 45 cm (up to 18 in) in diameter,[1] gripped in the fist with a central handle behind the boss. It became more common as a companion weapon in hand-to-hand combat during the Medieval and Renaissance periods. Its size made it poor protection against missile weapons (e.g., arrows) but useful in deflecting the blow of an opponent's weapons, binding their arms, hindering their movements, or punching them.

Ah! Good to battering each other again..

Two times speeded up video of my end of today's training at The Station Gym in Sheffield.
Great sparring session with Fin for last few mins..
I think he won on points here!!
I was a bit tired today!! (no excuse really though!)
Oo just thought of another excuse!! - I am 30 plus years older than him!!
Good hard session again.
Doing this as part of The Manor Knights, Medieval Fighting club!!
Up at The Station Gym again today for my Manor Knights Medieval Combat training but for the hour before we do that, we do a 'Fighting Fit' class.. This is to help with increasing our stamina that we need for the fighting with swords and shields!! This class also uses bits from various different mixed martial arts to help us in terms of being able to fight in different ways.. Or to give us tools to use in any combat situation!
What we are doing here is 2 mins at each 'station'. Three times round!! So 2 mins continuous boxing the bag, 2 mins punching the pads held by Luke with him saying which to hit and what type of hit, then 2 mins kicking the pads held by Ben plus kneeing him in the guts as well.. Absolutely knackering I tell you!!
So a short bit of video and a collage of doing the stuff!! :)

Some 'two onto one' sparring to finish today's session at the Station Gym, Manor Knights, Medieval Combat class!!
Doing a bit of two onto one helps with you developing your stamina.
Helps your peripheral vision in terms of trying to be aware where any attack is coming from.
Also being aware of trying not to end up inbetween the two opponents, (as you can hear from Ben on the video!) Keeping moving, trying to use one of the opponents as a shield to the other..
It is very tiring indeed!!
Whole thing was only 90 secs. But that seemed agaes!!
A slight pause from getting stuck by the mirror and dropping my sword at one point gave a few seconds of respite to catch my breath!!
We also had two onto one against H and F..!
Phew.. 😁😅
Good (hard) two hour session down at The Station Gym today!
Phew knackered now! But great fun too..
