Spring is in the air on Surinameplein roundabout in Amsterdam. Since 2015, six of these semicircles of bronze rise up between the daffodils. They were part of a larger structure, made in 1982 by Amsterdam sculptor André Volten for a square in Utrecht near Central station. It had to be dismantled there when the area was completely redeveloped
The first few weeks of the 'new' LRT tramline 1 to Osdorp. Tram line 17 turned around at the Surinameplein and the infrastructural works were not quite finished yet here. Note the use of timber planks to fill the gap between the tramstop and track work. The 699 on the left had a temporary stop short of the open work causing operational delays here. After works were finished tramline 1 would stop some 50 meters further west. © Henk Graalman 18-10-71 2788

Due to work on both ends of tram line 13, little of the original route (Geuzenveld - Central Station) is temporarily left. Shortened to Dam Square in the center due to works on Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal and due to rail works in Jan Evertsenstraat, line 13 will be diverted to Surinameplein. The regular users of tram line 13 actually have nothing to do with this tram line, which has a shuttle bus service up to Geuzenveld. Tram line 13 on a unusual location, here on the Hoofdweg near Surinameplein.
Combino 2119 was deliverd to the GVB on 21/11/2003 and first put into service on 17/12/2003 on line 9.
