Pollicipes polymerus Gooseneck barnacle and Mytilus californianus Callifornia mussel along with Endocladia muricata nailbrush seaweed,
This picture is very similar to Figure 178 in Ricketts et al in Between Pacific Tides, 5th edition Ricketts also points out the Mytilus-Pollicipes Pisaster association. These animals are all common iin the surf pounded rocky coast, they all have a strong capability to hang on to the rocks.
We observed only one Pisaster this day. The dearth of Pisaster were like due to decimation by Starfish Wasting disease.
