This is a UK-DMC2 image acquired on May 1st, 2016, after a wildfire began southwest of Fort McMurray, Alberta, Canada.
On May 3, it swept through the community, destroying approximately 2,400 homes and buildings and forcing the largest wildfire evacuation in Albertan history. The Black area is the burn scar left from the fires, it could take years before fresh healthy vegetation grows back.
