Giethoorn. Holland.
There are many beautiful villages in the Netherlands, but Giethoorn is something truly special. Also known as the Venice of the Netherlands or the village with no roads, is a place where it feels like you’re entering a fantasy world.
There is such a peaceful and quiet atmosphere, that you’ll want to stay there for a while and forget about everything else. Narrow canals, splendid houses with beautiful gardens (impeccably cared for) and the only noise coming from ducks and water splashing. Over one million tourists visit Giethoorn each year. Regular bus tours from Amsterdam include the highly scenic boat tour on the hand built dykes/canals that run through this amazingly photogenic village. Truly a place like no other that I have visited in 20 years of travelling.

And a thank you to the owners of the house on the right who have generously not shielded their house and garden from passers by with an ugly high wooden fence which is so often the case. Thank you for sharing your view.
