Melody in front of rooster mosaic created by Dana Albany and crew of volunteers sponsored by grant from city of San Francisco 20240410-171047

Melody and I never know what treasures we will uncover during our daily walks through our neighborhood. I made this photo of Melody posing in front of a Rooster Mosaic that is part of a much larger mosaic project on the walls surrounding a corner residence a few blocks from our home. The homeowner , Tom, saw grant offers from the Arts Commission of San Francisco and applied. They came to his home and saw some of the art previously created and approved a grant for further mosaic work. Tom and others are helping mosaic artist, Dana Albany, fill the outside wall and short retaining walls surrounding his large corner property in San Francisco's Excelsior District. Melody has been checking out the work in progress since we saw Dana, Tom, and others working to create the mosaics. More later. I captured this image in the late afternoon, after overhead utility lines were not casting shadows across the work anymore.

Melody posing next to giant leaves in the Aquatic Plants Gallery of the Conservatory of Flowers San Francisco's Golden Gate Park 20240130-153237

I made this photo of my bride of 10 years, Melody, during our visit to the Conservatory of Flowers at the end of January 2024. Though we used to be regulars at the Victorian Greenhouse attraction in Golden Gate Park, we had been there only a few times during the main years of the Covid-19 pandemic. Will will put in back into our daily lives again. Though we generally drive to the park, we can catch a city bus directly to the park from a stop 2 blocks from our San Francisco home. Melody is holding her Canon Powershot SX50, the same model I used to capture this image.

Melody portrait with mask Java Cafe during community meeting 20181118-131459

I made this photo of my bride Melody just before taking the selfie of myself that you can view in the following slide. It appears Melody had a face mask around her neck. Odd – since this was a year before the Covid-19 pandemic. Maybe she had a cold that particular day. I shot this at spot focus with my Canon Powershot SX50 nearly wide open.

Melody dressed for cold weather 20230311-121610V

I mad this photo of my bride Melody during a mid day walk through the neighborhood, Our usual walks typically involve going up and down stairs, hills, and uneven terrain. In this image, I was looking up at Melody who was higher up on a flight of 76 stairs than I was. I shot this using my Canon Powershot SX50 that I carry with me whenever out and about.

This is a cropped and cloned version of a larger portrait I made of Melody as she was looking down from the newly installed stairs at her previous home. I shot the original image to show the stairs and cropped it like this to show Melody. I cloned the white trim above her head to eliminate the bottom of a window that distracted from the portrait. Image captured with my Canon Powershot SX50 with minimal processing using Photoshop Elements 2020. You can see the original image a few slides after this one.

Melody trying out new Teddy Ave stairs 20210721-122511

I made this photo of Melody standing on the new stairs of her previous home on Teddy Avenue in San Francisco's Visitacion Valley District. We have been renting this house since October 2015. There are 42 stairs from sidewalk to front door at this hillside house. Luckily only the top fifteen or so stairs were wood that we finally replaced this year. I shot this from the bottom of the stairs after calling Melody's name so she looked in my direction. So, this was a semi candid portrait shot using the telephoto capabilities of my Canon Powershot SX50.

Melody unposed photo taken in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park 20191020-132700 cw50 C4

I made this photo from a distance after calling Melody's name. Though she realized I was taking her photo, she did not have time to pose – making this sort of a candid shot. I took this in the Music Concourse area of San Francisco's Golden Gate Park as Melody and I were strolling toward our destination of the California Academy of Sciences. I shot this using the telephoto capabilities of my Canon Powershot SX50.

This is the cropped version of the original photo in the previous slide I made of Melody as she walked down Avalon Ave toward me about a half a block away. She had walked up the hill to climb some stairs while I mailed a letter and took a few photos. I shot this using my Canon Powershot SX50 and cropped it using Photoshop Elements 10.

Dorothy wearing hat and making a face 20180516-180506 C4

I made this and the previous photo of our friend Dorothy as we visited her and three other generations in her South San Francisco home. Dorothy had tried on a hat that her great grandson, Diego, had been wearing. In this image Dorothy looks a little overly pleased. I shot this using my Canon Powershot SX50 five seconds after the previous slide.

Portrait of a woman 20180506-142702 C4V

I made this candid portrait of a woman Melody and I met at Garden for the Environment membership appreciation Day on May 6, 2018. The entire image was not very flattering but this crop turned out to be. I shot this using my Canon Powershot SX50 and cropped using Photoshop Elements 10.

Melody posing in front of black backdrop 20130724-185241 C4

I made this photo of my sweet Melody in July of 2013, a little less than a year before we married. I shot this in my home using a piece of felt hung in a doorway for a backdrop - sort of a makeshift home studio. The light was from a skylight over a set of stairs that was in front of where Melody was standing. I shot this using my Canon Powershot SX30 that was my carry around camera at the time.

Woman on cell phone 5th & Jessie St SOMA San Francisco 20170113-123502

I made this photo of a woman leaning against a parking meter while talking on her cell phone as I was walking in the South of Market Area - SOMA - on my way back to a Market Street BART station after an appointment in downtown San Francisco. This is the last of 15 photos of people on cell phone I took on my trip to and fro on Public Transportation. BART stands of Bay Area Rapid Transit. My way from home to downtown was not all that rapid as a passenger disabled the train in front of ours by trying to force the doors open. That action disabled the train. I shot this in harsh midday sun using my Canon Powershot SX50.

Melody holding her Canon Powershot SX50 Fort Baker pier Marin County north of San Francisco 20160515-134630 C4

I made this photo of my bride Melody on our second wedding anniversary on May 15, 2016 as we were visiting a few places in Marin County north of San Francisco across the Golden Gate Bridge. We had planned to stop at Vista Point just across the bridge but the traffic was too congested to even consider trying to stop; so we continued on the Fort Baker before heading on to the tourist town of Sausalito. I was still using my new Canon EOS 80d when I captured this image of Melody as she began to walk toward me. She saw me ready to snap this photo but this was not a posed shot.
