'Why am I so bad at getting photos of Borders Buses' fleet vehicles?' -Hullian111, 23 April 2025

It is that time of the year again: time for the family holiday, this time taking us up to Edinburgh. And we start off this trip by... stopping in Berwick upon Tweed? Yes: caught by chance while having a meal break, Borders Buses run quite a considerable network of services in the Berwick upon Tweed area, befitting the operator's name and seemingly making up for the lack of Arriva up there. There are plans afoot for potentially checking out the Holy Island of Lindisfarne on the way back home (or during the weekend?), so with hope, a stop in Berwick to sample some of the bus operations there might just be had, too!

Taken during a stop for sustenance just a couple minutes shy of the Scottish border, Borders Buses' 11204, a 2011 ADL Enviro200 new to Glasgow Citybus, runs past the Berwick-upon-Tweed McDonalds while on driver training duties along the A1167.

Though not quite in the framing that I wanted, here is the only diesel bus of the day that was running on the 108. Quite devastatingly, this went out of focus for some reason as it came out from the traffic lights, so this'll just have to do! Not sure as for the allocation on this one, however, as not only is this lacking in depot codes, the relevant London wiki fleet lists don't appear to be showing anything for SE122, here. A real spare vehicle in the purest sense? Answers requested as usual.

Possibly my rarest spot of the day, slightly spoiled due to a mix of focus failure and errant street furniture, Go-Ahead Blue Triangle's (?) SE122, a 2011 ADL Enviro200, is seen passing Stratford City bus station on a 108 to Stratford International.

Bandit SE172 on the 152 heading to Pollard Hill

Enviro200’s have been on 309 since Autumn of 2023, however Enviro200 MMC’s are set to join the route for 02/03/2024. Stagecoach London currently operates 309 using a mixture of Ex-First London Enviro200’s; single door Optare Solo’s, shared with W5; as well as dual-door Optare Solo’s, which was the original allocation. The Solo’s are due to leave when the new Enviro200 MMC’s arrive on the route. Here is 37558 turning at Bethnal Green Station towards Bonner Road.

Due to a fire on Go-Ahead London’s Me12 (Optare Metrodecker EV) earlier this week, route 200 has recieved a temporary allocation of diesel buses - both double and single decker. The buses have been transferred from Various Go-Ahead London garages, and are currently the route with paper ‘blinds’ as the buses are not blinded for 200. Here is SE137 stopped at Colliers Wood Station towards Mitcham Station.

The original style of Wrightbus Gemini 3 was produced between 2013 and 2015, making this one of the later examples. In 2015 they switched to the "frogface" design. I prefer the earlier version, however one flaw with this design is that the A pillars create a blind spot, whereas the frogface design has a wrap-around windscreen.

On paper the 85 is allocated the frogface variant of the Gemini 3, and has recently been retained by RATP.
