Speaking of that old 1950s radio, one thing I noticed is that when I placed my Panasonic radio/cassette recorder really close to my Granfather's Grundig and tuned both radios to the same frequency, it made faraway stations come in really exceptionally clear and loud during the nighttime using the bouncewaves off the ionosphere! I got hooked on airchecking and recording long-distance clear-channel 50,000 watt stations like WOWO in Fort Wayne, WCFL in Chicago, WKBW in Buffalo and of course, the Canadian powerhouse CKLW in Windsor, Ontario. I suspect that my grandfather's tuner somehow enhanced the signal when both devices were tuned to the same station and were in close proximity.
Just as an aside, this moment in time was taken on Kodacolor 126 cartridge film using a Kodak 104 Instamatic with a flash cube which make the indoor photo possible.
