The other day when I was hiking I paused for a moment to catch some breezes on my face, and a single leaf fell on my shoulder in that moment of peace. It was a beautiful, solitary moment.

I get so tired of having to walk to the other side of the workshop to throw something away, and I saw a rolling base meant for 5-gallon buckets but they wanted some stupidly insane price for them. Instead, I just made a rolling cart on my own, and added a pole on the side where I can just walk and guide it instead of leaning down or kicking it forward with my foot.

Hike number 6 for the year was down in Georgia, for a familiar and very wet trail. I got on the trail early, so I had all of Cherokee Falls to myself (it's usually popping with ton of people), and then I proceeded to walk all around the West Rim plateau. It was a great day for a great hike!

Today I attended the unveiling of the statue to Motorhead's Lemmy, in Burslem, Stoke on Trent, the town where he was born - just yards from the Port Vale ground! The statue was surrounded with a parachute which got tangled, so one of the local bikers who was helping out with the ceremnoy had to climb up and remove it. Big crowds were in attendance as well as Motorhead's manager and guitarist Phil Campbell, as well as the lead singer of the Rocking Vickers, one of Lemmy's first groups.
I was a very accomplished Boy Scout in my youth, achieving Eagle Scout at one of the earliest possible ages in the program, and I had so many merit badges that I needed two sashes to hold them all. But these are not my greatest Scouting accomplishments. ..
For me, my greatest accomplishment in Scouting is what I learned and still use to this day- and this handbook was my Bible as a kid. There is SO much information in here, and I still remember reading it over and over when I was young.
Opening it up today, I was instantly transformed back to my youth, sitting up late at night learning things I never thought I would use- but in fact I do use to this very day.

Every woodworker has heard that sound: the sound that a piece of wood gets lodged in-between the fence and a fast-moving blade, and in a fraction of a fraction of a second (which seems to last a minute), a piece of wood is getting ready to go flying and all you can do is hope for the best...
I had some very tight cuts to make on my miter saw and it required my hand to be closer to the blade than it should be, so I created a jig to hold the wood in place while my hand was far away. And it worked- until it didn't and the piece of wood went flying (no injuries!!!)
The next day I saw this stick on a YouTube video, which is designed to hold your piece of wood at a distance if you don't have enough space to keep your hand clear of the blade. Safety is always worth any dollar amount, so I assume that's why it's called the ten million dollar stick!
