A statue of Major-General Nathaniel Greene, who is the namesake of the North Carolina city of Greensboro, at the National Park Service’s Guilford Courthouse National Military Park in Greensboro. It was loss for the Greene’s Continental colonial army, but one that extracted a costly toll to the British Lieutenant General Charles Earl Cornwallis lost 25% of his 1,900 troops and Greene strategically retreated, drawing the Brits back to another line of Continental infantry.
