After the rain……

The colours were enhanced by the rain shower at Honister slate mine…was browsing and remembered these shots. The sunshine has disappeared here but supposedly going to shine again later today but we return home tomorrow where I have access to my photos instead the few downloaded to my iPad..Sue :)
There are so many iPhone back up shots on my iPad I screenshot this to bring it to the front where I could locate it. I have no idea if that will translate well at all. My recent shots taken at Skegness using my Fujifilm x100v downloaded full size while we are here and will be put back to my PC on reaching home tomorrow. For those thinking I should simply enjoy my holiday, keeping up on Flickr is taking my mind off other things.
Sue :)

Annoyingly someone walked here before me....

Shells left by the tide in neat lines. Now this part of the beach is closest to our caravan and remarkably changes shape on a daily basis with quite a steep bank one day and flat right to the promenade on others. This is what drives me mad is the sea defence people with there wide dredging machines with raking sort of appliances that try to even out the sand on a daily basis the thick sods. Honestly if someone has a sensible answer to this I would love to hear it ?
This goes on for miles btw and notices are put up on boards describing what is going on re keeping the tide at bay but these particular measures seem to serve no purpose at all. You may remember the year, ‘but most likely not’ the day we came here and one of these big hills of sand were adjacent to a huge tidal pool left behind. Children got into difficulties getting stuck in gloopy soft sand on the bottom of it. Men formed a human chain pulling the children free and passing them along the chain to safety. It is actually astonishing to witness year in year out and I noticed a photo on my PC a photo yesterday showing the Marram grasses planted years ago that were planted as another sea defence measure and was on a gentle slope before reaching where the tide came in. It was a shock to see instead of the gentle slope the the receding tide had pulled a great long sweep of the grasses and the height of the ‘step’ left behind almost 5ft if not more with the roots open to the air and left dangling. It is ever changing but I don’t know the answer to it….I know this is getting too long but wanted to add that at my favourite Chalets at Sandilands near Mablethorpe…. on our last 3 visits - I kid you not - astonishingly Jonathan and I have met 3 separate couples on those 3 separate occasions who had literally just moved to Sandilands after realising their dream of living at that coast of which like myself they had taken holidays over many years and decided to take the plunge ( forgive the deliberate pun ) and move to the place full of cherished memories. Now if following me you will have seen photos of those chalets with its dead flat beach then the small but cliff like drop to the houses below………they all three realised their dream and possibly got a ‘bargain’ buying their new home……but all around the whole area including where our caravan is there are bright red signs with the letters ER on them…I was never the brightest button in the box and once said to Jonathan “ why are Elizabeth Reigns signs all over the place down here ?
They stand for Emergency Route you idiot he replied. I’m not so daft as to buy one of the houses and bungalows always for sale in that area though, although it could be many years before the tide eventually comes right in 🤔and they thought it worth a punt
Maybe ?
