Departing Manchester a little late and with the setting winter sun illuminating the top of those massive wings.
An early build A380 (Line No:007), this aircraft was the 4th prototype, first flown as F-WWSD on 09-Feb-06, originally as an A380-841 with Rolls Royce Trent engines. It was re-registered F-WWJB ['JB' = 'James Bond' 007, gettit?] in Dec-06.
The aircraft was used for route proving flights as part of the A380 certification programme and appeared at the Paris Air Show in Jun-07 in full Airbus House Colours.
It was originally destined for Etihad Airways after development but that wasn't taken up. It was re-engined with GE/P&W Alliance engines, becoming an A380-861 in May-09 and delivered to Emirates Airline as A6-EDF in Dec-09.
As a result of the COVID-19 Pandemic, the aircraft was withdrawn from service and stored at Dubai-World Central in Mar-20. It was moved back to Dubai-International in Dec-23. The aircraft never returned to service and was broken up for spares in mid 2024. Updated 03-Mar-25
