Aerotour

F-BVPU with Aerotour was noted at Riem on 26 February 1977 (probably the precise date of this shot), 24 September 1979 and 17 January 1980.

This shot was taken from across the field with a strong tele lens. F-BVPU is parked out in the Westpilz area. There is a lot of building activity going on in the vicinity of the airport. Behind F-BVPU, the twin orange fins of ORAS Argosy 9Q-COA are peeking out. Great Lakes Carbon Convair 580 N76Y visible on the right was present at Riem from 19 February to 27 February 1977. Syrianair B747SP YK-AHA on the left was there on a regular flight.

F-BYAT Sud Aviation SE-210 Caravelle VI-N of Aerotour arriving at London Gatwick

Gatwick Memories Retro-looking Sud Aviation Caravelle VI-N F-BYAT of Aerotour is seen arriving at the stand at London Gatwick on flight FV3700. In the background is a pair of vintage Air UK Handley Page HPR-7 Heralds - G-AVEZ still carries the basic BIA livery with Air UK titles, whilst G-BEBB behind is in the full Air UK livery.

F-BYAT c/n 205 - Sud Aviation Caravelle VI-N - was delivered new to Alitalia in Jan 1963 as I-DABG and flew with them until being leased to SAM Societa Aerea Mediterranea in 1971. The aircraft was sold to Aerotour in 1977 and then passed to Corse Air in 1981. Two years later the aircraft was retired, and broken up at Orly some time later.

282 Caravelles were produced between 1955 and 1973. More information here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sud_Aviation_Caravelle

By the 1980s, Caravelles were starting to be withdrawn in large numbers - even those that had been sold to charter operators. A number of these were stored and cannibalised at Paris Orly.

F-BYCD c/n 067 - Sud Aviation Caravelle VI-N - was delivered new to Sabena in 1961 as OO-SRE, and flew with them until being sold to Catair in 1976. The aircraft passed to EAS and Corse Air International before being withdrawn at Paris Orly in 1987, and used as a fire trainer. The aircraft survived fire training and went on to be preserved, but was finally scrapped in 1999 - thanks to Polski_Photos for the extra info in comments section below.

F-BVPU c/n 196 - Sud Aviation Caravelle VI-N was delivered new to Sabena in May 1966 as OO-SRK until being sold to Catair in 1975. The aircraft transferred to Aerotour later the same year, and then went to Corse Air in 1982. The aircraft was withdrawn at Paris Orly in 1983/4 and was broken up sometime in 1984.

F-BHRD ex-Air France and assorted Se-210 Caravelles await scrapping at Paris Orly

By the 1980s, Caravelles were starting to be withdrawn in large numbers - even those that had been sold to charter operators. A number of these were stored and cannibalised at Paris Orly.

Seen out on the periphery of Paris Orly, a group of five Caravelles and a lone DC-8 have been put out to pasture!
With some strange lighting effects in evidence from my trusty Zenith camera :)

F-BHRD Caravelle III c/n 008 ex Air France

F-BYAI Caravelle VI-N c.n 139 ex Aerotour
F-BJTO Caravelle III c/n 148 ex Air Charter International
F-BOHA Caravelle III c/n 242 ex Air France
and an unidentified DC-8 ???

F-BHRD c/n 008 - Sud Aviation Caravelle III - was one of the first built Caravelles, and was delivered new to Air France in Jun 1959 and flew with the airline for its entire life of almost 21 years, being retired in Apr 1980. The aircraft was stored at Orly and broken up there some time later.

F-BHRV c/n 059 - Sud Aviation Caravelle III - was an early build Caravelle, and was delivered new to Air France in Nov 1960 and flew with the airline for its entire life of 20 years, being retired in Dec 1980. The aircraft was stored at Orly and broken up there some time later.

F-BYAI c/n 139 - Sud Aviation Caravelle VI-N - was delivered new to JAT in Jan 1963 as YU-AHA, and flew with them until being sold to Aerotour in 1978. The aircraft was withdrawn at Paris Orly in 1980, and used as a fire trainer. The aircraft survived in this state until the late 1990s before being finally broken up.

F-BJTO c/n 148 - Sud Aviation Caravelle III - was delivered new to Air France on 30th May 1963 my first birthday!! :), and flew with the airline for seven years before being sold to Air Charter International (ACI) in 1970. It flew for another ten years with ACI before retirement at Orly in Nov 1980, where at some point it was scrapped.

F-BOHA c/n 242 - Sud Aviation Caravelle III - was delivered new to Air France in Mar 1968 and flew with the airline for its entire life of just 12 years. Withdrawn at Orly in Nov 1980, the aircraft escaped the scrap man and was bought in 1981 by Chambre de Commerce et d'Industrie d'Avignon, being re-registered in 1982 as F-POHA. In 1996, the aircraft was sold to Aéroclub Vauclusien. In 2012, the aircraft was repainted in brand new old Air France livery and named 'Cpt F. Andréani'.

F-GCGR Aerotour Boeing 737-2L9 on pushback at London Gatwick

The Boeing Collection
From a collection of some 500 Boeing slides that I've had scanned from my archives. Hope they will provide some enjoyment and nostalgia from a bygone age. I needed a change from the 727s so we're switching to a few piglets :)

A short-lived aircraft with French charter airline Aerotour, seen on flight FV3652 at Gatwick. This aircraft was only with Aerotour from April 1980 to January 1981, then going to TAAG Angola as D2-TBT.

F-GCGR c/n 22024 - Boeing 737-2L9 was delivered new to Maersk Air as OY-APG in Dec 1976, but was only with the airline three years before being sold to Guiness Peat Aviation. The aircraft was immediately leased to Air Lanka as 4R-ULC. The next lease was with Aerotour as F-GCGR, but only for a few months, before being leased to TAAG Angola as D2-TBT. A year later, the aircraft returned to Guinness Peat as EI-BMY, and then passed through a number of further leases - G-BKRO Air Europe, C6-BFC Bahamasair , XA-TCP Saro and then it returned to the USA as N358AS and flew with Air South, and then N464AT with AirTran Airways into the 21st century. The aircraft ended up with Sky King and was retired to Merced [formerly Castle AFB] CA, and is now at the Castle AFB Museum.

Taken with a Soviet made Zenith EM camera and 300mm lens.

Aerotour KZ Tupolev Tu-154M at ALA (UP_T5407)

Parked at ALA with many other old russian airplanes in the background.

I could find a few information about this airframe.
Built in 1987 and until 2002 I don't know who owned that airplane.
In 2002 Balkan Bulgaria bought it as LZ-HMH.
Until 2006 it was owned by Hemus Air as LZ-BTH.
In 2006 it was reregistred as UP-T5407 and is flying with that registration.
According to a source it is still active...

Caravelle 6N by Sud Aviation, built in 1967 JAT Airways of Jugoslavia. The JAT Caravelles were a regular sight throughout Europe until the late 1970s. Charter carrier Aerotour of France bought her in 1978 until 1981 when F-BVPZ stayed in France with Corse Air International. She is seen at Paris Orly under preservation by Athis Paray Aviation, next to the Concorde. This is the view from the observation terrace at Paris Orly airport.
