El monasterio de Santa María la Real de Sacramenia (Segovia) – Spain, está a unos dos kilómetros del centro de la localidad en el llamado Coto de San Bernardo, y solo es posible visitar su iglesia un día a la semana por la mañana, ya que es una propiedad privada.
La iglesia consta de tres naves, siendo la central la de mayor altura y dos laterales más bajas, el estilo que predomina es el austero románico cisterciense construido desde finales del siglo XII en adelante. Está considerada por sus dimensiones la tercera iglesia más grande de la provincia de Segovia y el retablo policromado es de un gran valor artístico.

The monastery of Santa María la Real de Sacramenia (Segovia) – Spain, is located about two kilometres from the centre of the town in the so-called Coto de San Bernardo, and it is only possible to visit its church one day a week in the morning, as it is a private property.
The church consists of three naves, the central one being the highest and two lower side ones. The predominant style is the austere Cistercian Romanesque style built from the end of the 12th century onwards. Due to its dimensions, it is considered the third largest church in the province of Segovia and the polychrome altarpiece is of great artistic value.

Nuestros caminos del arte y paisaje nos llevan hasta el norte de la provincia de Segovia (Spain), a la localidad de Sacramenia donde además de comer buen cordero asado en toda la zona, visitamos sus monumentos como la iglesia de Santa María la Real en un recinto que pertenece a una propiedad privada.
Este edificio inició su construcción a finales del siglo XII en estilo románico cisterciense, consta de tres naves, cinco ábsides y portada con siete arquivoltas en la zona oeste. Los capiteles del interior de la iglesia muestran austeras cestas y decoración vegetal.

Our art and landscape trails take us to the north of the province of Segovia (Spain), to the town of Sacramenia where, in addition to eating good roast lamb in the whole area, we visit its monuments such as the church of Santa María la Real in an enclosure that belongs to a private property.
This building began its construction at the end of the 12th century in Cistercian Romanesque style, it consists of three naves, five apses and a doorway with seven archivolts in the west area. The capitals inside the church show austere baskets and plant decoration.

La iglesia de Santa María la Mayor de Villacantid en Cantabria (Spain), es una iglesia románica que se empezó a construir a finales del siglo XII y continuándose en el siglo XIII ya en estilo protogótico.
La puerta, una rareza en su posición junto al ábside, ya que fue trasladada desde su posición original en el muro sur en una ampliación del templo. El ábside románico destaca por su sencillez pero con elementos interesantes como su ventana, canecillos con animales y representaciones frutales, además de figuras humanas.
Ya en el interior destacan los capiteles del arco triunfal, además de una pila bautismal y pinturas descubiertas recientemente.

The church of Santa María la Mayor in Villacantid in Cantabria (Spain) is a Romanesque church that began to be built at the end of the 12th century and continued in the 13th century in a proto-Gothic style.
The door, a rarity in its position next to the apse, was moved from its original position on the south wall in an extension of the temple. The Romanesque apse stands out for its simplicity but with interesting elements such as its window, corbels with animals and fruit representations, as well as human figures.
Inside, the capitals of the triumphal arch stand out, as well as a baptismal font and recently discovered paintings.

La iglesia de Santa María la Mayor de Villacantid en Cantabria (Spain) está situada sobre una ladera, tiene partes románicas de los siglos XII y XIII, para después pasar al estilo denominado protogótico.
La portada fue trasladada a la zona oriental junto al ábside, contiene un arco apuntado y varias arquivoltas con decoración de dientes de sierra, ajedrezados, y en la más exterior círculos secantes. Un único capitel que muestra una escultura de grifos afrontados sobre una columna de apoyo de la arquivolta, ya que los demás son apoyos de pilares con escasa decoración.

The church of Santa María la Mayor in Villacantid in Cantabria (Spain) is situated on a hillside, and has Romanesque parts from the 12th and 13th centuries, later changing to the so-called proto-Gothic style.
The doorway was moved to the eastern area next to the apse, and contains a pointed arch and several archivolts with sawtooth decoration, checkered patterns, and on the outermost one secant circles. A single capital showing a sculpture of facing griffins on a column supporting the archivolt, as the others are supports for pillars with little decoration.

Sobre un bello paisaje de Villacantid en Cantabria a muy pocos kilómetros de la localidad de Reinosa (Cantabria) y sobre una ladera nos encontramos la iglesia de Santa María la Mayor, monumento románico iniciado en el siglo XII y continuado en el siglo XIII y posteriores. Inicialmente constaba de usa sola nave.
El arco triunfal en el interior contiene en un lado un capitel mostrando una lucha entre caballeros y en el otro lado una lucha de grifos.
Pinturas descubiertas recientemente, hacen una visita muy interesante a este lugar donde se ha instalado en el interior de la iglesia el Centro de Interpretación del Románico de Villacantid (Cantabria).

In a beautiful landscape of Villacantid in Cantabria, just a few kilometres from the town of Reinosa (Cantabria) and on a hillside, we find the church of Santa María la Mayor, a Romanesque monument begun in the 12th century and continued in the 13th century and later. Initially it consisted of a single nave.
The triumphal arch inside contains a capital showing a fight between knights on one side and a fight between griffins on the other side.
Recently discovered paintings make a very interesting visit to this place where the Romanesque Interpretation Centre of Villacantid (Cantabria) has been installed inside the church.
