Completed in the early 1860s, the Mosta Rotunda has the third largest unsupported dome in the world.
During WWII, Malta was one of the most bombed places on the planet. In April 1942, whilst there were 300 people in the church, a bomb dropped by the Luftwaffe came through the roof and landed on the floor but did not go off. None of those in the church were injured.
