Just a tiny explorer starting the day with a bubbly morning bath 🛁✨
Fluff level: 100%.

Can I be this little one for a day, please? 💦

A calm and focused presence – this grey heron allowed me a quiet moment to capture its detail and character. The soft light brought out the subtle textures in its feathers, and the lens did the rest.
Captured with the Canon EOS R6 Mark II and the RF 100-400mm lens. Still amazed by the clarity and reach this combo offers for wildlife photography.
A Grey Heron glides low over the tranquil waters, it's wings catching the warm light of the early evening. Captured mid-flight, the elegance and power of this magnificent bird are on full display as it skims the water's surface in perfect harmony with its surroundings. A fleeting moment of stillness in motion.
A close-up portrait of a striking male common Pheasant (Phasianus colchicus), captured among tall, dry grass. The vibrant red facial wattles and iridescent blue-green plumage contrast beautifully with the natural background. Photographed in the wild using natural light to highlight the bird's rich textures and vivid colouration.
This male Northern Cardinal perched briefly on a slender branch, catching the sunlight just right. His vivid red plumage really stood out against the green backdrop.
I took this photo near my feeders here in Arkansas. The cardinals are regular visitors, especially in the mornings when the light is soft and clear.
Northern Cardinals are known for their bright coloration and melodic songs. Males use their calls to defend territory and attract mates, often staying close to reliable food sources like backyard feeders.
This photo shows a female Painted Bunting perched gracefully on a slender branch in my Arkansas yard.
I often see these shy birds during spring and summer, but they’re not always easy to photograph. Unlike the bright and bold males, females wear a soft palette of yellow-green and olive tones that helps them blend into the foliage.
Painted Buntings are often considered one of North America's most colorful birds, and the female’s subtle hues offer their own quiet beauty. She gave me a perfect pose here against a smooth green backdrop.
Martinet à ventre blanc (Tachymarptis melba) – Gorges de la Nesque
🇫🇷 Martinet à ventre blanc🇬🇧 Alpine Swift🇳🇱 Alpengierzwaluw
Tachymarptis melba Apodidae🌱 Tachymarptis↕️ 20-23 cm↔️ 54-60 cm
🇬🇧 In the clear skies of the Gorges de la Nesque, this Alpine swift cuts through the air with unmatched elegance. Its bright belly contrasts sharply with its dark brown back, while its long, pointed wings enable fast and agile flight. In spring, it returns from Africa to nest on the rocky cliffs of European mountains, where it finds shelter and abundant food.
🇫🇷 Le martinet à ventre blanc peut parcourir jusqu'à 1000 km en une seule journée lorsqu'il migre.🇬🇧 The Alpine swift can cover up to 1000 km in a single day during migration.🇳🇱 De Alpengierzwaluw kan tijdens de trek tot wel 1000 km op één dag afleggen.
On a surprisingly warm spring afternoon, the shoreline came alive with a striking flock of Dunlins. Dressed in their crisp breeding plumage - rich brown backs and bold black bellies - they moved as a unified force, probing the wet sand and barnacle-encrusted rocks with tireless energy.
Seen up close, each bird carries its own subtle variation in pattern and posture, but together, they form a shimmering tapestry of motion. The inlet’s breeze stirred just enough to lift a few feathers, and the receding tide turned the water’s edge into a runway.
Here on Whidbey Island, where sea meets sky and season meets migration, it’s a gift to witness such a coordinated display of life returning and rising.
💬 Have you ever watched a migrating flock in breeding plumage? What struck you the most—the colors, the patterns, or the energy of the moment?
