The Douro Valley line runs through a really beautiful landscape, where even buildings, viaducts, settlements and stations add to its beauty. Therefor the portugese railways, Comboios de Portugal, is under pressure to keep the old hauled stock rolling on the IR service through the valley. For these services they use CP1400 loco. Some of those are still in their well-known orange colours, but several are repainted to their originel blue livery.
During a sunday morning, after having a nice breakfast in our hotel, we went to the station of Ermida. There we awaited train 865 to Pocinho. Slightly delayed it stopped as the station. After less than a minute it departed again, passing the old water tower that clearly shows where the photo was made.
