"Stand up straight and look at me. Now turn around and face the other way."
"What?"
"I'll turn this way. Have you turned? Can't see you."
"Now what?"
"Now we walk, and we never look back."
"But I, I..."
"Don't turn. Just walk."
This is my fourth tribute to my new second-favorite TV series "Killing Eve" (the third, the second, the first tributes), and the next one will be the ALTERNATE ENDING. :D Stay tuned!
This is the same scene as the one from my first tribute, which was my favorite part of the dialog. But this particular shot is one of the most iconic and the most recognizable shots from the whole series, so I couldn't resist and decided to build it too. I hope you enjoy it.
As I promised, I'm going to say something about Villanelle's empathy. Various characters throughout the series suggested she has none of it, and yet she definitely has one, it just comes in... uhm... unexpectable forms. There were some episode characters who helped her and talked to her heart to heart, and then they were killed by her. I noticed each one of those characters told her they don't want to live because of whatever reasons, and since she understands things very literally, she certainly thought she did them a favor. From the same logic, when she killed a woman who was Amber's watchdog, she kind of helped Amber, because Amber really deserved more freedom. I'm not saying it was justifiable, but I see it as her (really distorted) way of helping the others. And so on, there are other examples which can be understood the same way.
And that what makes this scene even more important, because we finally see a healthy example of empathy from her side. What a character development, especially considering the ending of the previous season. :)
Yes, you can watch the scene here on official YouTube channel, but here's the important thing: for some reason it's actually cut off BEFORE both of them turned around. Which is literally the point of the scene and it could be a perfect ending for the whole series (it's not, because there is one more season).
Eve and Villanelle Share An Unspoken Understanding (Killing Eve Season 3 Finale)
By the way, the song in that scene is performed by actress Saoirse Ronan, it was from soundtrack of another film.
