Today I didn't celebrate Norway's Constitution Day by watching the children's parades, wearing my bunad (national costume), eating sausages, ice cream or cakes, visiting people or traveling to my favourite landscapes around Norway like I've done so many times on May 17.
This year Richard and I agreed that we wanted a completely calm day in the nice summer weather. And I also had to unpack from Greece and get ready to travel to visit some friends tomorrow.
After a nice breakfast, I went out on my bike to look for the rare Icterine warblers I found in an apple tree in our neighbourhood yesterday (gulsangere in Norwegian).
They were gone, but instead the lovely willow warbler (Phylloscopus trochilus) came to sing up close in the same tree instead. And it was much more eager to pose than the Icterine warblers.
It was actually pretty appropriate on the national day - since they are the most numerous birds in Norway during the summer season.
(Løvsanger in Norwegian)
My album of birds here.
