Everybody knows that Wild Bill Hickok was shot from behind while playing poker in the #10 Saloon in Deadwood, South Dakota. He was holding Aces and Eights which became known as the Deadman's hand. But few people known little if anything about the Man who Shot him. The man that shot Wild Bill was a man known as "Broken Nose" Jack McCall. After shooting Hickok in the back of the head, McCall was captured and tired in what was basically s Miners Court. McCall claimed that he was justified because Hickok had previously murdered his brother. The Miner Court agreed and found McCall Not Guilty. MCall left and when to Wyoming where he bragged about the killing and was eventually arrested a second time for the killing. The court ruled that Because The Dakotas were a territory he should have been tried in a Federal Court and did not recognize the Deadwood trial as being legitimate court. McCall was tried a second time in Federal Court in Yankton, South Dakota. He was found guilty and sentenced to death. He was hanged in Yankton on March 1, 1877. Today "Broken Nose" Jack McCall is buried in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Yankton, South Dakota.

A pair of CP Alsthom class 2600 'Nez-Cassé' locomotives sit nose to nose at Porto São Bento.
The locomotives were built from CP from 1974-5 by Alsthom at Belfort (France), based on the BB15000 and were in front line service in Portugal until withdrawn in 2012 as surplus to requirements.
In a remarkable twist of fate the class began to be rehabilitated in 2019 and it is expected that at least 19 class 2600's will now be returned to service.
Still looking fresh from their recent overhauls, 2605 is on the blocks (right) while 2611 (left) has just arrived with the empty stock for the 09:20 service to Pocinho.
