The theme for "Smile on Saturday" on the 4th of February is "copy-collage", a challenge in which a photo collage must be presented, but only one image may be used and edited in different ways to create the collage.
Anyone who follows my photostream will know that I love flowers, especially roses. I took a photo towards the end of last year of a yellow rose filling the frame. I decided to use this as my image for the "copy-collage" theme. I have given the four copies of the same image making up majority of the collage different textures and tones, adjusting their size to show the image in full using four different sized squares. I have then applied a partially transparent copy of the original image over the top. Having never done anything quite like this before, I just played around and tried to be creative. I am actually very pleased with how this turned out!

I took an afternoon stroll in the spring sunshine the other day, and I walked past this beautiful old fashioned golden yellow rose bloom which is on a bush which is thriving in the well maintained garden of a stylish 1920s Art Deco stuccoed brick villa. Basking in the sunshine, she was crying out for me to take her picture, and I was only too happy to oblige. In the process, I was also treated to her beautiful old fashioned rose fragrance, which was sweet, but not overpowering.
Melbourne has experienced a colder and wetter than average winter this year, which is now bleeding well and truly into a wetter and greyer than average spring, however on the rare sunny days we are currently getting, the showing of flowers and blossoms is beautiful.
I took an afternoon stroll in the spring sunshine the other day, and I walked past this beautiful apricot rose loom which is on a bush which is thriving in the well maintained garden of a stylish 1920s Art Deco stuccoed brick maisonette villa. She was hanging her head, protecting herself from the sunshine, or perhaps she was just being shy. Either way, I managed to capture her beauty by kneeling down before her and snapping away.

When I took an afternoon stroll in the spring sunshine a few months ago, I walked past this bush bursting with beautiful pink, sweetly fragrant, roses in the well maintained garden of a stylish 1910s Arts and Crafts villa. The vibrant pink blooms were too beautiful not to photograph.
Spring in Melbourne this year was particularly beautiful, with gardens bursting forth with beautiful coloured blooms in a profusion of colours after a wetter than usual winter.
I took an afternoon stroll in the spring sunshine the other week, and I walked past this beautiful large red rose which had burst into bloom almost seemingly overnight in the well tended cottage garden of a 1930s Art Deco clinker brick villa. It has a beautiful, sweet fragrance, suggesting that it is an old fashioned variety of rose. Bathed in spring light the vibrantly red bloom was simply too beautiful not to photograph.
