A lovely yellowhammer (Emberiza citrinella) by some other's feeders.

They visit our feeders very rarely, and if they do so they are shy, so I only have one worse photo of them ouside our own house.

One of two yellowhammers (Emberiza citrinella) feeding on seeds by a beach on Jæren in January.

Today I have been on a birdwatching trip in southern Norway with the same friend I met these yellowhammers with.

We just saw our first American herring gull (Amerikagråmåke in Norwegian), my bird species number 240 in Norway 🙌

And also my species number 110 for this year, since we found the year's first treecreepers and cranes as well today.

One of two yellowhammers (Emberiza citrinella) feeding on seeds by a beach on Jæren, in the snow two weekends ago.

It's the annual Big Garden Birdwatch in several countries this weekend (Hagefugltellingen in Norwegian), where one registers the birds coming to the bird feeders.

It's typical that we have bad weather and few birds those weekends. We have some sunshine now, but still much wind after the storm, and only a few magpies here. The best conditions would be cold like on this photo.

From the only time I've seen the rare pine bunting (Emberiza leucocephalos), in our part of the country three years ago. (It's the bottom one.)

There were three of them, together with around 60 yellowhammers.

It breeds across temperate Asia, and normally migrates to central Asia, north India and southern China in winter.

The beautiful yellowhammer (Emberiza citrinella) stands out among the other colours in the forest, and it´s always a pleasure to meet it.

Now I´m on my way to the forests of Finland, to photograph bears, wolves and wolverines- so I don´t know when and what my next upload will be ツ

Tonight I dreamed that we had our first yellowhammer (Emberiza citrinella) by our birdfeeders, and that I got nice photos of it ツ

Until that should happen in real life, I luckily can go find them other places - like last week when we went to see the rare pine buntings joining a large flock of yellowhammers in the town where I used to live.

They are Norway's Bird of the year 2021.

Earlier this autumn, I met 8 yellowhammers (Emberiza citrinella) for the first time (at least that I know of). They flew up in front of me on a walk, and luckily they posed a little before flying on.

Today I caught a glimpse of one by our bird feeders at home, but it flew away right away. I hope it returns!

Sitting outside watching birds, both in the forest and by the sea, has been my best medicine mentally, through several months of aching feet and sick leave lately.

I've photographed new species and had awesome bird experiences every day this week, in lovely weather close to my home. Sadly I dont' have the chance to show that many of them yet.

But here's a beautiful Common reed bunting (Emberiza schoeniclus) that I met for the first time last weekend, on the island I'm from.

This is a male in its winter plumage. In summer its whole head is black.
