I love the jewelwing damselflies. With their beautiful, iridescent sheen and colourful wings.
I saw this one within a densely vegetative area with shade, so the colours are muted. There was a stream close by.
But still so lovely to see, flitting from leaf to leaf.

This male banded demoiselle must have hatched shortly before I found it. His colors are not yet fully evolved, only a faint shimmer of blue and green are visible. Normally these dragonflies are brilliant dark blue and green

I didn't take this photo with a macro lens. I used the Canon RF 100-500 mm lens at 500 mm (!) at the minimum distance of only 1,2 m / 4 ft. - it's such an amazing lens

Diese Aufnahme habe ich nicht mit einem Makro-Objektiv gemacht, sondern mit dem unglaublichen 100-500 mm bei maximaler Brennweite und bei minimaler Distanz von nur 1,2 m
