The Nebraska State Capitol, designed by Bertram Goodhue, is an iconic and stunning structure celebrated for its unique features and artistic touches. As the first state capitol to include a functional tower, it serves as a landmark on the prairie and showcases intricate mosaics, murals, and carvings that tell the story of Nebraska's history.
In 1868, William A. Engeman built a resort in the area. The resort was given the name "Brighton Beach" in 1878 by Henry C. Murphy and a group of businessmen, who chose the name as an allusion to the English resort city of Brighton.
It is known now for its high population of Russian-speaking immigrants, and as a summer destination for New York City residents due to its beaches along the Atlantic Ocean and its proximity to the amusement parks in Coney Island.

Blue Dasher Dragonflies are widely distributed throughout North America and into the Bahamas. The males are easy to recognize with their vibrant blue color, yellow-striped thorax, and metallic green eyes. The adult dragonfly will eat nearly any flying insect, such as a moth or fly and mosquito. They are capable of eating hundreds of insects every day.

Last night, I had the privilege of photographing Lords of Acid's new frontwoman, Carla Harvey, at the Bourbon Theatre in Lincoln, Nebraska. Carla is widely recognized as the former frontwoman of Butcher Babies, a band she left a year or two ago. I’ve covered Butcher Babies a few times, so naturally, I was thrilled to see her perform live on stage again.

For years, I have been wondering what this tower is used for.
I decided to research and discovered as I copied from the discussion board: "The structure sits atop the Windstream building and was originally used for microwave and other wireless technology in the 60s and 70s. Since that technology is no longer in use, the tower now serves only as an observation tower. Over the years, the city has repeatedly asked LT&T/Aliant/Alltel/Windstream to remove it, but they have refused, arguing that if future technology ever required such a tower, it would be nearly impossible to secure zoning and approval to rebuild it."
Now, that eases my curiosity. ;-)
