#398 heads east thru downtown Springfield and past the old Great Western depot back in March of 2012. This is just a weird one-off grab shot that I took while waiting for D31 to get permission out on the mainline and head west to Bluffs.
#398 was pretty much an un-shootable train if it didn't make it to Springfield before noon. I'm not really sure what made me take this shot. I think it might have been a proof-of-concept shot. I do remember not liking it and never trying again, which in hindsight was unfortunate.
With all of the demolition and construction work related to the 10th Street Corridor project, the only thing left in this picture in 2024 is the Great Western depot, which makes this shot interesting in retrospect. The only constant is change but something has to be lost for it to really grab our attention.
