Before I started photographing birds and people more, I was more into photographing wildflowers and insects.
I have so much from that time that I have never posted or looked at before. But a lot of it can be interesting to share, both to learn more myself, and for others who want to know more about our beautiful wildflowers.
I photographed these beauitful red Alpine catchflies (Silene suecica/ Viscaria alpina) ten years ago already, on a backpacking trip in the mountains by the famous Trolltunga rock formation.

That's what we call the red campions (Silene dioica) in Norway.
Since we celebrate Saint John's Eve tonight, here are some of the pink beauties we have named after the event.
These are from our neighbourhood in the evening sun one month ago.

Silene acaulis creates its own internal climate by heating up when the sun shines. The mat helps stabilize soil by providing wind protection and water retention.
Thank you to everyone who took the time to view, comment, and fave my photo. It’s really appreciated.

This pretty flower looks like it has ten petals but it only has five, each petal has a deep split which gives the appearance of the ten petals, they belong to the carnation family. They flower from April until June and when the seeds ripen in the seed case you can hear a popping sound as the seeds are released, the Greater Stitchwort has other names which may sound familiar to you ‘Star-of-Bethlehem,’ ‘Wedding Cake,’ ‘Daddy’s-shirt-button’ and ‘Snapdragon.’
