this photograph showcases the grand portal of the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, opening onto the vibrant Piazza del Duomo in Milan. The striking contrast of light and shadow accentuates the intricate reliefs and opulent architecture, a testament to the grandiosity of Italian design. Under this ornate canopy, visitors and locals alike traverse, small figures against the monumental backdrop, partaking in the age-old tradition of the evening passeggiata. It’s a place where history is etched into every detail, and modern life flows beneath the watchful eyes of a bygone era.
In August 2023, I spent a month living in the eternal city of Rome. As a graphic designer who works remotely, I took the opportunity to travel and experience new places, and Rome was high on my list.
A few days into my Roman adventure, I unfortunately came down with a nasty virus that had me confined to bed for nearly a week. Once I finally started to feel better, I was eager to get back out and make the most of the time I had left in this incredible city.
So one night, I found myself wandering the streets of Rome well into the evening, camera in hand, searching for stable surfaces that could serve as a makeshift tripod for some long exposure photography. It was on one of those surfaces - the marble railing surrounding Largo di Torre Argentina - that I captured this image of the bustling traffic near the taxi and bus station.
Maybe it was the renewed energy I felt after recovering from my illness, but I have such fond memories of that night exploring Rome and capturing this unique perspective of the city. It was the perfect way to make up for the time I had lost being cooped up indoors.

descending into munich's urban artery, the air vibrates with the hum of the city's pulse. each step on the escalator, a gentle descent into the subterranean heartbeat of this historic yet ever-modern metropolis. he carries with him the quiet air of contemplation, a silent witness to the dance of shadows and light that plays across the steel canvas of his surroundings. this is the photographer's retreat, where the clatter of the surface is hushed to a whisper, and the reflections capture more than just shapes, but the essence of movement, the soul of the commuter's journey. it is here, in this liminal space, that he finds a fleeting connection to the city's rhythm, mirrored in the lines that crisscross his path, a visual echo of munich's own intricate melodies.
