Glasgow Green station was situated on the Caledonian railway's Glasgow Central' low level railway from Rutherglan to Partick, which opened in August 1896. This station was closed in November 1953, and, unbelievably almost, the low level railway through Glasgow City centre was closed under Beeching on 5th October 1964.
The line was re-opened, electrified, by British Rail in conjunction with Strathclyde Passenger Transport in November 1979.
