Bronck Houses

The stone house on the left was built by Pieter Bronck in 1663 and is the oldest in Upstate New York. An addition to it was made in 1685. The brick house on the right was built by Leendert Bronck in 1738. Both houses are part of the Bronck Museum in Coxsackie, New York.

Mabee House

The stone structure with the steep roof is the Mabee House, one of the oldest houses in upstate New York and the oldest in the Mohawk Valley, having been built c.1705 as part of the Mabee Farm. It was handed down through the Mabee family for almost 300 years before being donated to the Schenectady County Historical Society, which has opened the house to the public. Built in 1707 by Hendrick van Rensselaer and enlarged in 1762. The song "Yankee Doodle" was allegedly written here in 1755 by a British army surgeon to mock Colonial troops who fought alongside the British during the French and Indian War. Fort Crailo was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1961. Rensselaer, New York.
