The First Reformed Church, located at 160 Neilson Street, historically known as the Dutch Reformed Church, serves a congregation formed in 1717. The Italianate style building was constructed in 1812, replacing an alert wooden building that dated to the congregation's founding and suffered damage during the British occupation. A fire tore through the church in 1971, and after suffering extensive damage, was renovated to keep the interior and exterior as close to the way it looked when first erected.
