It was listening to a crazy photographer whistling in some nearby shrubs. Photographed on a golf course in Mississippi.
This was seen along the side of a wooded area at the Strawberry Plains Audubon Center in Holly Springs, Mississippi. According to other sources, the Red-spotted Purple is a mimic of the poisonous Pipevine Swallowtail (Battus philenor) and is typically found in open woodlands and along forest edges. It was the best shot I could get of this one. Wait until I get my new lens!!!
