Along a four-lane one-way arterial road in Lansing, Michigan, overhanging branches dump leaves on a sidewalk. by Tim Kiser

Along a four-lane one-way arterial road in Lansing, Michigan, overhanging branches dump leaves on a sidewalk.

The speed limit is 40 mph through here, but the police don't enforce it and a lot of people drive 45-55.

I like to come out here on Sunday mornings to enjoy the quiet of the longer-than-usual gaps in car traffic.

Give me always: shallows of meltwater atop river ice.

Usually the Grand River is one of the boringest-looking rivers in all North America, so I was excited to see that it was uncharacteristically weird-looking this day. I was so excited I needed help getting calmed down!
