I'm posting stuff from my trip completely out of order, so bear with me.
On the final day of our campaign across the midwest, we spent the morning around the Lincoln area, which was host to numerous cool BNSF local units. One such engine was BNSF executive SD70MAC number 9709, which has seemingly been demoted to local duty in the BNSF system. This fairly stupid choice actually worked out in our favor, as they decided to put the unit on train L-HLA842, a turn from Hobson Yard to Columbus and back, interchanging with the Nebraska Central. Here's the train on its return back to Lincoln, passing through the small town of Staplehurst on the Bellwood Subdivision. Another thing to note is that this is one of extremely few BNSF 70MACs with PTC, which is the only thing allowing it to lead a mainline train. BNSF has sadly begun storing more and more of their 70MAC fleet again, including a couple of the PTC equipped ones. However, since 9709 has been demoted to local service, it might be safe from this potential purge.
