Yea verily the famous-infamous West Virginia chain restaurant "Tudor's Biscuit World" opened here in downtown Roanoke, Virginia, in 1985, and closed on September 14th, 2012, according to this paywalled news article. Now instead of Virginians gathering to eat greasy West Virginia biscuits, we have rust gathering at the edges of the restaurant's abandoned sign.
As of 2022, Tudor's Biscuit World has no stores in the state of Virginia: "Good riddance!" say Virginians, maybe. "Those biscuits were soooooo greasy, oh my gosh."
The color scheme of the sign reminds us all of Wyoming license plates from 1983-1987. DOESN'T IT!

By "prominent businesses" I mean "prominent business signs."
I want Blimpie to be successful and I worry its sign is not contrasty enough. The green is too light and the yellow is too dark.
"A black Chevy Impala and a silver Mazda CX-5," I observed aloud. "What! A Mississippi license plate in Michigan?!"

Here was one of the dramatic spectacular otherworldly light conditions for which the Desert Southwest is beloved.
"Playland" is pronounced with the stress on the first syllable. The second A has an "uh" sound.
I filled up on greasy breakfast until I was huge, then carried the food wrappers out here to this dirt area, and released them from my hands.
