Crots est une commune française située dans le département des Hautes-Alpes en région Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur. Elle fait partie de la zone périphérique du parc national des Écrins.
Le lac de Serre-Ponçon est un lac artificiel situé dans les Hautes-Alpes, dans le sud des Alpes françaises, à la limite des départements des Hautes-Alpes et des Alpes-de-Haute-Provence. Il a été créé en 1959 par la construction d'un barrage sur la Durance
C'est certainement le monument le plus photographié de Serre-Ponçon ! Pourquoi une telle chapelle en plein milieu du Lac?
la chapelle est construite sur une petite colline dans la vallée de la Durance, en1692 la chapelle est détruite par les troupes du duc de Savoie Victor Amédée II.
Fin XVIIe siècle, elle est reconstruite, lors de la construction du barrage de Serre-Ponçon, dans les années 60, la destruction de la chapelle était programmée, mais sa position sur un promontoire permit de la sauvegarder.
Erigée à une altitude légèrement supérieure, du futur lac, désormais, la chapelle trône seule sur un îlot de quelques dizaines de mètres carrés au-dessus du niveau du lac. Souvenir d’un passé englouti.
