Carlos Núñez was born in 1971 in Vigo, Galicia. He has been a regular collaborator with the Chieftains and others from different musical cultures. The first part of the concert was devoted to his latest album "Celtic Sea" which included tunes from the main Celtic countries as well as his native Galicia. Núñez was accompanied by a band drawn from those who performed on the album. He played a variety of instruments including the Pastoral Pipes (a 18th-century precursor of the Uilleann Pipes). For the second part they were joined by a series of guests from Scotland, Ireland and Canada. These were my first photos of Núñez who I had seen before at Cork Folk Festival in 2005 and Celtic Connections in 1998. Of the band the only one I have photographed before is Tim Edey (www.flickr.com/photos/kmlivemusic/tags/timedey,-carlosnunez/).
